Description
Dr. Anjan Barman is a Professor of Physics at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences Kolkata. ‘Swapnosayore Eka’ is his first book of poems. A collection of forty six poems in this book innately portray the multifaceted experiences of the poet garnered through his cruise in life. Having spent a reticent adolescence in a small town on the bank of Ganga or at times in a remote village of West Bengal, he travelled to the city lights and later abroad in pursuit of his youthful dreams. The commitments towards the roots brought him back again to his beloved city of Kolkata. This journey, like an ever flowing river, was engrossed with unrequited love, political and social restlessness, frustrations, joys, anguish, fulfillment and yet the perpetual emptiness. It also left an overriding debt to the people, life and maternity. In this book he made a candid attempt to touch, feel and perceive those feelings. The poems in this book were all penned during 1989-93 or 2014-15. The recess of 21 years had no rhythms, only pursuit of dreams; no palpable verses, only silent shivers. The voyage through the path of those never spoken dreams and shivers reached its ultimate destination in the bosom of poetry.
