Description

Mahakabi Kalidasa’s Meghadutam has been translated several times in the 20th century. Two of these translations are in verse. And two in prose. Parvathicharan Bhattacharya and Rajashekhar Bose wrote two books translated into prose. Prose translations are scholarly, literal translations with commentary.

In this context, a poetic, simple yet faithful prose translation of this epic was lacking for a long time. This translation by Raja Bhattacharya, a well-educated and literate in both Sanskrit and Bengali languages, will fill that gap.

Another valuable asset of the book is the decoration and cover art done by the skilled artists of Kalabhavan and Government Art Colleges.
