Description
Buxa Jail, notorious for its brutal conditions, held many freedom fighters, including Amlendu Dasgupta, who spent 18 months there. The prison, notorious like the Andaman Cellular Jail, saw harsh treatment, including brutal whippings by British officers. Despite the suffering, moments of camaraderie and resilience emerged, like playing hockey with fellow inmates such as Trailokya Maharaj, Satya Gupta, and Hemchandra Ghosh. Dasgupta’s writings offer a glimpse into the harsh realities of the struggle for freedom, capturing both the pain and the indomitable spirit of those fighting for India’s independence.
