Description
The rebellion against the British rule spreaded all over India like a forest-fire in 1857. It was Sepoy Mutiny which is considered as the great movement of the country. At the time of Sepoy Mutiny Durgadas Bandopadhyay, a Bengalee, joined the British army. Later, Durgadas, after his retirement from the army, started to write down the thrilling story of his life which is enriched with horrific experiences. This autobiography was serially published in a magazine and was published later on as a book. As soon as the book was published a sensation took place among the readers. Besides the experiences of an eye-witness of Sepoy Mutiny, it is an important document of the mutiny too. With the original flavour of Durgadas’s account, distinguished essayist Kamal Chaudhury has presented the narrative in modern language. One has to read the book to know about the story of Sepoy Mutiny.
